The new chief minister will take oath on December 5 at south Mumbai’s Azad Maidan in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meanwhile, addressing a press conference, Shiv Sena leader Deepak Kesarkar has said the Maharashtra assembly polls were recently fought under the leadership of Eknath Shinde and it is up to the BJP’s central leadership to decide how to maintain his stature, news agency PTI reported. The contribution of Shinde, the caretaker chief minister of the state, should be duly recognised, Kesarkar said on Monday. Who is the frontrunner? Fadnavis is the front-runner for the CM’s post, according to BJP sources. He has held the CM post twice and was deputy CM in the last Shinde-led government. The BJP legislature party meeting to elect the leader, who will be the party’s CM pick, is yet to be held, even though Shiv Sena and NCP allies have elected their respective leaders. Further, the Shiv Sena is keen on getting the Home portfolio. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the oath-taking ceremony of the new Mahayuti government scheduled for Thursday (December 5) in Mumbai.
