JP leader and former Energy Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has written a letter to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis demanding to change the rules of all Panchayat, Municipality elections in Maharashtra and to conduct the election of Sarpanch and Municipal President directly through the public. The same decision was taken by the then BJP-Sena government in 2017, but in 2019, the Mahavikas Aghadi government reversed this decision .. and the panel system elections started.
